Laboratory Ergonomics
The Laboratory Ergonomics Program is designed to provide you with the information you need to train laboratory employees in how to identify and prevent the occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
The material in this package provides general awareness and laboratory specific information needed to train employees about the risk factors and identify physical work activities or conditions in the laboratory commonly associated with work-related MSDs. Furthermore, this program helps meet the accreditation requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in the Lab General Checklist question GEN 70816 as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) General Duty Clause of 1970.
Disc #1 is a CD that includes a leader’s guide that will assist you with the training and examples of the attendance sheet, quiz and evaluation form that you can print out.
Disc #2 is a 25 minute DVD that addresses general ergonomic issues as well as lab specific concerns including:
- Musculoskeletal diseases
- General work tips
- Proper workstation setup
- Seating and computer equipment
- Pipetting
- Microscope use
- Lifting
- Phlebotomy
- Noise
- Environmental issues
- Rest breaks
Successful completion of this program will grant 0.1 CEU from the ASCLS PACE Program. This program is also approved for 0.1 CEU for California and Florida license renewal. |
